It's POTTY Time!!!

Yes you heard me right... it's POTTY time!! WOOT! Griffin is potty training, or should I say he is potty trained! That is so amazing to say!! Griffin has known how to use the potty for quite some time, but just didn't seem to really care about using it. We had decided that we wanted the potty training process to happen when he was ready and not when we were ready, ha, but we constantly were letting him sit on the potty so that he would get used to it! Well it sure did pay off!

This past Sunday, May 23rd, when we got home from church Griffin told me he needed to go potty... WHAT!? Yea!! So we ran to the bathroom and he WENT! Later that day while at a friends house he started doing the potty dance and I asked if he needed to go, he said yes, and he WENT! So when we got home we put underwear on and he used the potty the rest of the evening. So... on Monday morning I asked him if he needed to go potty when he got up and he said yes, and again he WENT! So I put underwear on him and he used the potty ALL day long, with only one very small accident while we were in the car trying to make it home, and then one boom boom (this is what we call #2!) accident. Not bad for his first real day!

Tuesday we did the same thing in the morning, he went potty and put on underwear for the day! He used the potty all day like a champ and even boom boomed on the potty! I have never been so excited over boom boom!! HA! He has been so totally proud of himself and I know that is because he is doing this for and by himself, and I am so glad we let him take the lead!! He stayed dry all day, even when we went and ran errands... including a stop at Papa and Nana's house to tell them how good he was doing and to get a little surprise they had for him... CARS underwear!! He has Sesame Street, which he loves, and he was so pumped to get some CARS undies too!

Wednesday, same morning routine, and then he went potty all day!! He even boom boomed TWICE on the potty!! WOOHOO!!!! He had one small accident as we were running to the potty from playing outside, but not a biggie! One little story... we were leaving and he went potty right before we left. We got in the car and started backing out of the driveway and he yelled "I GOTTA POTTY!!" so I pulled back into the driveway and we ran in... sure enough he had to boom boom!!! I just think that's awesome!

I am just amazed with him and how smoothly this has gone. He tells us when he needs to go EVERY time and he GOES!!! He isn't even 2 1/2 yet!!! I am just so proud, and am so pumped that he is doing so amazing at it!!

SO PROUD!!

OH BONUS! He went ALL day today in the same pair of undies!!!! NO accidents!!

Baseball FUN!

My little ball player (with a peppermint in his mouth!) wearing his Red Sox gear and toting his Red Sox bat to go see daddy at work!

Well I am sure I have made it clear on here that Griffin is a ball player through and through! He LOVES to play baseball, wakes up asking for a ballgame on TV and to play catch, has to have a ball, glove, and bat with him everywhere we go... the boy is a junkie! Now, don't get me wrong we love this about him, and wanted him to LIKE baseball and maybe even play when he got older... we did not even consider that at 2 he would be so in LOVE with baseball that it consumes us... who am I kidding he has been this way since before he was 1! But, it is all Griffin-led and we are strong believers in nurturing his interests so we go with it! We are thankful that he will take a break every once in a while to get his music side on! He does love to dance, sing, and play instruments... but that is definitely a far second to baseball! And yes I am his Mom and I am biased, BUT he is really really good at playing and I mean REALLY good!

Anyway... Alec decided to get him a real bat, like an aluminum tee ball playing bat, and some real tee ball baseballs! We went to the park and set up, and had one of those nights that is just so fun you never want it to end! He was so pumped about his bat! We gave it to him at home and then told him we had to go to the park to play! He was awesome about being patient, but he was so excited he could hardly stand it! "Go park. Go bye bye. Hit bat, Red Sox bat. Bat! Daddy bat Griffin bat!" LOL! He didn't know how to describe it, but we knew what he meant!

Waiting for his surprise! (The bat!)

So excited!

First at bat!

Had to get rid of the tee, he likes to hit without the tee!

A little video!

And then we went over to the park for a couple minutes... he loves this slide!

Mother's Day!

For some reason this didn't post on Mother's Day... so here it is!

On Mother's Day I want to just take a minute to focus on how blessed I am. It is so easy to forget in the day to day, but I am taking this day to remember! I thank God for all the blessings in my life, and am thankful to have a relationship with Him. What a blessing it is to see that in my son, the son He has allowed me to Mommy! I am blessed to have my husband Alec. What can I say, he is amazing! He is the love of my life, an amazing husband, father, and friend, he works so much harder than anyone I know to provide for us both at home and at work, so blessed! I am so blessed to be Griffin's Mommy! He is such an amazing little man, he makes me a better person each and every day, I am so proud of who he is and all that he is becoming, he is happiness and love! Are you tired of hearing me say I am blessed? HA! Well I am not done, but I will keep the rest short! I am blessed to have such an amazing supportive family, and on this day want to specifically point out that I have been blessed to have my Mom as my Mom! I am blessed to have my friends, and those around me that care about me and my family! I am just so darn BLESSED! OK, I am done...

(Not the greatest pic of us, but it is all that I have on my camera from Mother's Day morning!)

Our Mother's Day celebrations started Saturday night at my in-laws house. Alec's mom and step-dad had us over for dinner, and then we played the night away in their beautiful backyard! Griffin showed everyone his baseball skills and got several of them in on his game (even if they weren't really wanting to play!)! It was a blast! They have a huge backyard and he really enjoyed getting to run around, feed the fish in the pond, and swing on the rope Grandpa hung from the tree for him!

Mother's Day morning Alec let me sleep in as late as he could, and him and Griffin surprised me with a beautiful picture that Griffin made when they woke me up! We got dressed, and I had bought a new dress to wear (I never wear dresses) and when Griffin saw me he said, "Mommy dance me!", and we danced together! The way he said it it was as if he was trying to tell me I looked pretty and that meant we should dance! Such an amazingly special moment! Then it was off to church and then to my parent's house for lunch! We had a nice lunch, got some wonderful Mother's Day goodies, and again had a nice baseball game outside! Well, Griffin, my dad- Papa, Alec, Aunt "T" aka Sarah, and my mom- Nana did... I got to stay inside and veg on the couch for a little while, very nice! Then it was home for a long nap (thank you G!) and then to dinner with my boys! When we came home, I spent the evening laying on the couch watching Alec and Griffin play baseball, and then they sang me some songs and played their instruments for me (Griffin's idea!)! All in all, it was a GREAT day and I couldn't have asked for more on Mother's Day!

Watching my boys play ball and of course watch the Red Sox!

And my boys serenading me... yes Griffin is NAKED it was after bath!

Spring Things...

I have to say this Spring has been so much fun so far! Griffin loves to be moving and doing... and really enjoys being outside! So here is what we have been up to! (We have also spent a lot of time at the park... but my camera broke and I am having a hard time with getting any pictures.)

Pushing the wheelbarrow at the museum!

Playing in the water was probably his favorite thing to do at the museum that day!

Learning to balance!

After the museum we went to the Botanic Gardens... again the water was Griffin's favorite part!

Stopping to smell the roses...

We decided to try our hand at growing zucchini and squash... we will see what happens!

Cookie Monster garden bag...

Griffin loved playing in the soil!

We also bought some sunflower seeds (yes Big Bird seeds) to plant...

Getting the soil ready!

Then out of nowhere Griffin dumped a handful of soil on Alec's head, and thought that it was, quite possibly, the funniest thing he has ever seen!

This in turn started quite the dirt war... they ended up dirtier than gardeners should, but they certainly had fun!!

Have I told you how much I love being a mommy and a wife... but even more so how much I love being Griffin's mommy and Alec's wife!

Let's Catch Up!

Well in the past I kept up with a babysite for Griffin, that trailed off when I got on Facebook (seems I can't keep up with two things at once) which was last year around this time... so it has been a year since I have really posted/blogged about Griffin and what all he is up to these days! This is probably more for me than anyone reading, sorry!

  • Griffin is 2 years old now (really 2 yrs 4 months!)
  • He LOVES baseball, I mean the boy is obsessed! Total junkie!
  • Not only is he a baseball junkie but he is REALLY good at playing baseball, he has an amazing swing, hits great off a tee, is working on hitting without the tee, has an arm on him- so watch yourself if he has a ball, and he is really good at running the bases and sliding into Home!
  • For Halloween this last year he was a Red Sox baseball player and he had a baseball party for his second birthday in December!
  • AND this was all his choosing, he wants to be and play baseball 24/7! Yes, he even asks to watch baseball on TV instead of cartoons!
  • He has the biggest heart, and is such a sweet friend. He truly has empathy for those around him, and is always ready to help cheer those up that need some cheering up! If he sees a "friend" crying he will go over, pat their back, and say "it's ok" to them helping them feel better!
  • He is a clown, he loves to make you laugh and when he does he will keep doing whatever it was so you will keep laughing!
  • He is still a great sleeper and when he is ready to get up in the morning he yells, "Mommy, Daddy, Where are you? I want DOWN!" Love!
  • We are working on taking him off Prevacid, a medicine to help his reflux. This has been hard for us as he seems to get sick so easily. The pediatrician thinks he does show signs of a weakened immune system, and we will be getting some extra vaccines to hopefully help him stay healthy. Will update on this as time goes... but right now we are hoping to stay off the medicine and not have to have any procedures done.
  • He also loves trips to the ZOO (we try to go once a week), and trips to Sea World (we try to go every 6 weeks or so), and just in general likes to be outside!
  • He also loves music... loves to dance, sing (with a microphone) and makes up his own words, and play instruments especially the drums and guitar!
Griffin's Favorites:
  • TV show: Baseball games and Sesame Street... Little Einsteins comes in third
  • Foods: Spaghetti, hot dogs, tacos, cereal, and all fruits but grapes and apples top the chart
  • Colors: Purple and Green
  • Toys: Bat. ball, glove and musical instruments
  • Books: H is for Homerun and Where the Wild Things Are
  • Movie: The Polar Express
  • Place: Outside
  • Characters: Cookie Monster and Abby Cadabby
If you read this and have something you would like to share, please DO! I would love to have all your comments on HIM!

My little man...

Griffin picked up my phone the other day and here is the conversation he had (with himself of course):

"Hi Papa"
"What you doing?"
"Oh, taking a bath."
"OK, bye bye"

The next day, he picked up my phone again and here is the conversation he had (again with himself):

"Hi Connor"
"What you doing?"
"Oh, taking a bath."
"With bubbles?"
"OK, bye bye. See you soon"

I love how Connor got to have a bubble bath and Papa did not!

Couple of pictures just for fun...

Where's Griffin?

Here he is!! I LOVE him!

Silly boy with a sticker on his nose!! (Don't worry I know the paci needs to GO! Shhh!)

A day at the ZOO...

with cousin Connor! Yesterday Alec and I took our nephew, Connor, to the zoo with Griffin! It was so fun to watch them explore and talk about the animals together!

Come on Connor, let's go see the animals!

Griffin loved this bird... it was making a crazy noise!

Go get him Connor!

Look at the giraffe!

Connor finally figured out how to do what Griffin was doing! (Don't worry Alec is standing right beside him- I cropped him out of the pic!)

Fun day at the ZOO!

Easter Sunday

So, Easter morning Griffin woke up to a surprise from the Easter Bunny! He was so excited when he walked into the living room and saw what was in his Easter basket!!

Then off to church we went! Griffin had an Easter egg hunt with his class, I didn't get to see it but he told me all about it! After church we headed to my parents house, Nana and Papa, for lunch and an egg hunt with our family! Unfortunately right after we got there Griffin's cousins Jessalyn and Connor wound up sick and had to leave. So, after lunch Griffin did the egg hunt all by himself!

While hunting Griffin kind of lost interest, seeing as he had to hunt all the eggs by himself ya know! Uncle Jonny decided to pretend he was going to take some of the eggs that were on the ground... when Griffin saw that he charged him! This turned into quite the wrestling/ leaf throwing adventure... Griffin was right in his element! He loves to get dirty and wrestle!

We hope you all had a very blessed and Happy Easter! Oh and that evening was the Boston Red Sox Opening Game! And... WE WON!!! Griffin had a blast watching the game with Alec, it's so fun to watch them get excited and I love hearing Griffin say, "Go Resox!" Like father, like son!
